- Take responsibility for what you say online, and the comments you allow on your page or blog
- Forewarn people of your tolerance level for abusive or rude comments
- Consider moderating comments and don't allow anonymous comments
- Ignore trolls
- Talk through arguments offline if you can, or find an intermediary who can help
- Tell people when they are behaving badly so they know where they stand
- Don't say anything online that you wouldn't say to them in person
